Yeah, this one will probably get some people riled.

A week ago I had a gig with a family. I was also sick the whole time.

No, I didn’t have Covid-19, but I was sick. In the last year, people have been very skittish about shooting. I’ve been turned down for shoots more often than not. While I understand it, to be frank, I think its silly.

No, no. I’m not about to tell you its a hoax or that you shouldn’t get vaccinated or any such nonsense. That doesn’t mean people haven’t been paranoid.

We live in an age when people love to say “follow the science”, but don’t really know what the science says.

There’s no reason photographers can’t have shoots. As in all areas of life, there just has to be precautions.

For this shoot, I informed the client upfront that I was ill. If she felt uncomfortable, I was fine with cancelling. But as long as she was okay with it, so was I.

For starters, the shoot was outside. There’s no risk there. You can’t get Covid-19 outside, unless someone is literally coughing in your face. At no point would I be touching any member of her family.

There needs to be a rational response to the pandemic. Covid-19 isn’t going to go away completely.

You can’t just stop society. Take precautions. Be responsible. But ultimately, keep moving forward.
