My 2022 Goals

Ultimately what I want from each year is to be better than I was. In that, I think 2021 was successful.

I’m finally at a stage where I have a good idea of how I like to shoot. I’m closer to being able to come up with a concept for an image and execute it. That takes a lot of work.

I’ve been wanting to attempt boudoir photography for quite a while now. Boudoir fits more into the kind of shooting I enjoy. It’s a space that is a little harder for men to break into, but having some portfolio work will make it easier. I think I’ve waited long enough. I’ll need to hire a model for the portfolio images, but I want to take care of that early in the new year.

One disappointment is that I wasn’t able to make my America Project work. If you’re unfamiliar, AmPro was an idea I had for a series of portraits of people who still love and believe in America. There’s a little more to it, but that’s the gist. The project never got off the ground. I haven’t given up. I still want to make this work and I have some ideas that I want to focus on in 2022.

I am planning to move in the next year. I am hoping that offers me more opportunities to work and grow.

Hopefully that will include a few more weddings.

I would like to refine my lens line-up if at all possible. As I mentioned earlier, I understand my shooting style better. I’d like my lenses to be more reflective of that style. This one is pretty iffy though. It would cost a fair amount of money.

And I suppose that’s it. Ultimately I just want to continue this pattern of growth from the last few years.

And hopefully 2022 will be a better year for all of us.
