LOOKING FOR LOVE?

Just going to be honest here. I haven’t had a date in a while.

Not for lack of desire. Just… opportunity. Dating in your forties is just not fun. I’m on this dating app, Hinge. And it’s just so disheartening. The vast majority of profiles I run across seem like villains from the Adam West Batman show. I really don’t want to do this at all. These apps are a wasteland. But how do you meet women in 2024?

And what is it going to take to find a good woman? I have no desire to play the dating game. Dating sounds exhausting. I just want to meet someone who makes sense for me and move right into couple mode. I know it doesn’t work that way. I’m just saying… y’all, I’m 44 years old. I don’t want to play these games. It’s exhausting.

I also want human interaction. Meeting people on dating apps is so dehumanizing. Why can’t you meet people the old fashioned way? Why doesn’t it work that way anymore?

The really sad part is that I’m not looking for some kind of unicorn. I’m not in my twenties. My needs are pretty basic. Some of it is attraction, sure. That is what it is. But a lot of what I’m looking for is compatibility.

Is she smart?

Do we share the same values?

Does she have a good sense of humor? This is a big one.

Is she looking for a partner or is everything going to be combative?

Men don’t actually want or need much from a partner. Kindness, support and sex. That’s about it.

And I hope this doesn’t come across as me whining. I’m just expressing how I feel. I’m an old fashioned guy, living in a world I don’t understand. But it is what it is. I’ve neglected my romantic life for a while. I need to get back out there. I can’t be alone on this. Do you feel the way I do?
